WEP/GPO Repeal — We Fought and Won!

MTA members who are retired are starting to find a happy surprise in their bank accounts. More than 2 million Americans, including many Massachusetts retirees, have had their Social Security payment adjusted to reflect the repeal of the Windfall Elimination Provision and Government Pension Offset. The two laws were removed in January, clearing the way for retired members who had been penalized by one or both to receive a retroactive payment, as well as a new amount going forward.
